Mackay Park in Englewood covers 28.60 acres. It offers tennis and basketball courts, softball and baseball diamonds, soccer field, pre-school and youth playgrounds, picnic area, and bicycle path.

Van Saun County Park – Paramus

This is one of the most visited parks in Bergen County especially if you have kids. Park offers playgrounds for kids of various ages, picknic tables, and features Zoo, carousel, pony and train rides.

For those interested in sports activities, you will find here baseball field, softball field, basketball court, tenis courts, soccer field and bike path.

Fishing is also permitted if you have a valid NJ fishing license.

TIP: If you need quiet time in the park, head over to Walden Pond which in spring is surrounded by blooming trees and features way less people and kids. There is paved road that circles the pond.

Zoo – Open Year-round (weather permitting) 10:00am to 4:30pm. Fees (Wednesday thru Sunday and Holidays May thru October).

Pony rides – Operates April to November (weather permitting) 10:00am to two hours before dusk. Fee is $3.

Train rides – Operates April to December (weather permitting) 10:00am to 4:00pm (Tuesday to Sunday; closed Mondays unless it is a holiday in which case it will be closed on Tuesday). Fee is $1 per person (children under 2 free).

Carousel – Operates April to October (weather permitting) from 10:00am to 5:00pm (closed Tuesdays). Fee is $1 per child.

Wood Dale County Park – Woodcliff Lake

Wood Dale County Park is located near Prospect Avenue in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Park offers picnic area with pavilion, playground, and tennis courts. Fishing is permitted with valid NJ fishing license. Park also has provisions for bicycle riding.

Saddle River County Park – Dunkerhook Area

Saddle River County Park stretches from Ridgewood to Rochelle Park. It is perfect place for leisure bike riding, jogging and family activities. Park is divided into five areas which are connected thru paved trail wide enough for both pedestrians and bikers.

Dunkerhook Area

Access from Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652. This area offers picnic areas, playground and tennis courts.

Overpeck County Park stretches between Leonia and Ridgefield Park and covers 811 acres. Its four sections offer various activity fields.

Henry Hoebel Area

Here you will find four tennis courts, fitness field and jogging path. A quarter-mile path running along the area is great for walking or bicycling. Use of ball fields and running track requires permit.

Stretches along Fort Lee Road in Leonia and has four picnic areas, playground, baseball/softball field, bike path, running track, volleyball and basketball courts. Opposite side of Fort Lee Road, you can find Bergen Equestrian Center which offers horse-back riding (more information: 201-242-1920).
